Relevance for Banking, SSC & RBI Grade B exams: International Relations
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a bilateral meeting with Singapore’s Defence Minister Chan Chun Sing on the sidelines of the 13th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting-Plus in Cebu, Philippines, on 28 October 2026. The two leaders reviewed ongoing defence cooperation and explored new avenues to further strengthen bilateral ties, highlighting the deep historical and strategic partnership between India and Singapore. They expressed satisfaction over the growing momentum in defence relations and emphasized expanding joint military exercises across the Army, Navy, and Air Force to enhance operational synergy and mutual understanding. Singh reiterated India’s commitment to ASEAN’s central role and a free, open, and inclusive Indo-Pacific, noting Singapore’s pivotal role in India’s Act East Policy. He also invited Chan Chun Sing to participate in ‘Aero India 2027’ in Bengaluru, scheduled for February 2027, to boost cooperation in defence industry and technology.
This engagement is significant for competitive exams like Bank PO, SSC, and RBI Grade B as it underscores India’s strategic partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region, a key topic in international relations sections. Questions may arise on India’s Act East Policy, ASEAN’s role, or defence cooperation with Singapore, testing aspirants’ awareness of current geopolitical developments. The reference to ‘Aero India 2027’ also highlights India’s focus on defence manufacturing and technology, relevant for questions on Make in India or defence exports, often featured in banking and SSC exams.
